A crescent moon above the Long Island Sound provided the perfect touch for an evening “Under the Stars” to benefit pediatric and neonatal services at Greenwich Hospital. Hundreds of guests from Connecticut, New York and as far away as Bermuda gathered at the scenic Belle Haven Club in Greenwich for a festive evening of dancing and dining, along with live, silent and wine auctions. Revelers spent the sultry evening dancing to the music of P. J. Pacifico, while Gideon Fountain served as master of ceremonies and auctioneer. The elegant setting included pink swags and paper stars suspended over the dance floor. Tall centerpieces with floating candles adorned the tables, which overlooked the Long Island Sound. Proceeds benefit Greenwich Hospital’s Pediatric Department and its Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The hospital offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient programs to meet the health and development needs of children from birth through adolescence. Quinton Friesen, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Greenwich Hospital, thanked the event chairs – Whitney Duncan and Neely Vanneck of Greenwich – and the committee members for the successful evening. The benefit was sponsored by Families for Greenwich Hospital, a voluntary group of parents working to enhance pediatric and adolescent care in the community. Among the special guests was Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hughes, who spoke about the importance of having access to state-of-the-art neonatal care. Hughes’ brother and her sister’s twins were born prematurely and spent many months in a NICU. |
