Saturday, February. 2, 2013The Drawing Room Gallery, Opening Reception of “Homeland” The Drawing Room Gallery celebrated its second exhibition with a packed house filled with artists, collectors and art enthusiasts, on the evening of February 2nd, for the Gallery’s Opening Reception of “Homeland: Contemporary Approaches to Contemplating the Landscape”. The opening reception was a festive evening, honoring the work of five talented artists featured in the exhibit: Darthea Cross (Maynard, MA), Michele Kishita (Philadelphia, PA), Chris Macan (Newtown Square, PA), Jeremy Saladyga (New Fairfield, CT) and Cameron Schmitz (Brattleboro, VT). Throughout the gallery, these artists revealed their own distinctive approaches to interpreting the landscape, and together presented intriguing juxtapositions of photographic and painterly approaches to the subject. Departing from the traditional notions and representations of the landscape, the artists’ contemplative and colorful visions of the landscape provided Gallery’s viewers with metaphors for memory, utopia, and our ever-changing global ecology. Whatever the viewers’ interpretation, it was clear that this show’s opening reception provided a rich subject for lively conversation and high spirits throughout the entire night! “Homeland” will remain open until April 2, 2013. The Drawing Room Gallery is open Mon-Sat., 10am-5pm. www.thedrawingroomartgallery.com.
