Story and Photographs by Robin G. London

My husband and I just came back from one of the most fabulous vacations we have ever been on. Adventurous, relaxing and delightful are just a few words to describe Finca Rosa Blanca Inn and Coffee Plantation in Heredia, Costa Rica.

Although my friends told us we had to see every region of the country while we were there (the entire country is only about the size of West Virginia). We wanted to stay in one convenient location that had it all. We flew directly from Newark into the capital city San Jose. Finca Rosa Blanca sent a van to pick us up and after 20 minutes we had checked in and were having a delicious welcome cocktail.

Upon arrival, the warmth of the staff made us relax instantly. We chose to stay at a coffee plantation because it sounded so incredibly interesting. After touring the plantation with Leo, you will never sip a cup of Joe quite the same. Poas Volcano & Waterfall Gardens (spectacular & beautiful) and canopy zip lining (exhilarating), were all within a one hour drive.

We were fortunate enough to stay in four different suites - our choice. One was more exceptional than another, none lacked cleanliness, space or amenities. El Roble, La Ventana and El Guarumo take you to a place you never want to leave. The two story Rosa Blanca Suite will make you experience poshness, comfort and beauty that made me feel like a movie star! The food was exceptional and prepared to perfection. They were happy to accommodate any restrictions.

The staff at Finca Rosa was always available and ultra attentive, the word "no" didn't exist. Meeting Glenn and Terri, the proprietors, and learning about the history of Finca Rosa was an unexpected treat, as well. Their grace and kindness extends to the staff.

Both Costa Rica and Finca Rosa's sustainability and dedication to being green is inspiring. And if the grounds, the art and the pool were the only things that existed at this glorious location…that alone would have made our trip from NYC worth the stay. The proximity to all these adventures, while staying in the lap of luxury with delicious food and amenities made this a destination we are already planning on going back to. Finca Rosa Blanca will make anyone feel the necessity to stay put for an entire vacation.
