Global Lyme Alliance Greenwich Gala
Old Greenwich, CTApril 1, 2017
Saturday, April 1 was an evening to remember as Global Lyme Alliance held its annual Greenwich Gala to fund research and ultimately a cure for Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses. More than 450 supporters, including special guests TV journalist and women’s empowerment advocate Gretchen Carlson, who served as Master of Ceremonies; U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal; novelist Jay McInerney, and UFC lightweight fighter Jim Miller, joined in the festivities at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.
Honored at the event was Dr. Harriet Kotsoris, who received the Lauren F. Brooks Hope Award for her pioneering 10 years as GLA’s Chief Scientific Officer and founder of its Scientific Advisory Board. In addition, singer-songwriter Marina Morgan—featured by national radio host Elvis Duran as his December “Artist of the Month”—received GLA’s Star Light Award, created to honor individuals who have lent their voices to the fight against Lyme disease. Morgan, who was inspired by her health struggles with Lyme-related pain and fatigue to write a powerful song called “Paralyzed,” received a standing ovation after she performed her song live at the event. Gala Event Co-Chairs were Robyn Carpenter, Heather Glass, Amy Tambini and Tara Vessels.CLICK AN IMAGE TO ENLARGE
