Women of Vision
Old Greenwich, CT – March 2, 2015March 2, 2015
On Monday, March 2, 2015, Women of Vision Fairfield County hosted their annual fundraiser luncheon, “Strong Women, Strong World,” at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich. Congresswoman Karla Schaefer, Republic of Peru, was this year’s keynote speaker. As a human rights activist and congresswoman, Karla has been a voice for oppressed and trafficked women and children in Peru and throughout Latin America. Congresswoman Schaefer has ties to our local community as she is a cousin to Jeannette Gugelmann, of Greenwich, who has herself been a tireless volunteer and advocate working on behalf of vulnerable children here in the US and in her native country of Peru.
Funds raised at the luncheon will benefit World Vision projects which serve impoverished women, children and their families in Stamford, CT, The Bronx, NY and in some of the most difficult places to be a woman today, such as Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Cambodia and the Dominican Republic. Women of Vision is a volunteer ministry of World Vision that educates, inspires, and equips women to use their God-given resources in compassionate, mutually life-changing service to impoverished and oppressed women and children worldwide. World Vision is dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice.
In addition to fundraising and hands-on service, the Fairfield County chapter of Women of Vision promotes child sponsorship and travels each year, at their own expense, to see firsthand the projects and children they support.
