This will be my 6th year participating in the 1.5 mile Greenwich/Stamford Open Water Swim through Swim Across America. It has been an honor to be a “WaveMaker” each year, helping to raise more than $6,000 of the $70 million Swim Across America has generated since inception. The funds raised help provide grants so doctors can conduct innovative clinical trials and research that can lead to breakthroughs in cancer detection and treatment.
It is a moving experience to listen to survivors share their stories, hear a teen in remission sing the National Anthem before we enter the water, and to swim alongside Olympians such as Craig Beardsley. My colleague PJ Papale and his wife Patty introduced me to this event and we have another team member, Scott Pearson, participating as well. A big Thank You to all those who have donated to support me in this worthy cause! I swim in memory of family members, Gertie Bax (my wife’s godmother), Ed Lozada (my uncle), in honor of friends, and to help make a positive impact in this fight.
