Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
Where did you study?
I attended the University of Georgia where I studied Marketing.
Describe your personal style?
I create environments that are understated and inviting and work for the client’s lifestyle— whether a young family with kids or empty nesters. I have a less is more approach with more of a transitional feel, often building room schemes around interesting and fresh textiles. Color plays a big role, along with subtle elements that add texture and warmth.
Have your life experiences affected how and what you design?
My experience with interior design began over 20 years ago when I was in a management position at a major retail clothing chain. I later became Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Design for a sportswear company which allowed me to travel globally. My travels led to collaborative meetings in India which served as the pinnacle point in my career. It was here that I found my true passion in the home furnishing and textile market. Shortly thereafter, I began my journey into interior design. First as a sideline business, designing and importing British Colonial style furniture, and later, as demand increased, I left to pursue Interior Design full time. I’ve since used my experiences traveling abroad and my appreciation for the many cultures to create crisp, clean and sophisticated spaces that are rich in textiles and furnishings.
What comes to mind when you think of the American Red Cross?
I always think of a group of caring individuals that provide a sense of calm whenever called upon.
If you were to design table tops for a celebrity or historical figure, who would it be and why?
If I were to choose anyone, it would have to be Billy Baldwin. I loved his spaces, the scale of his furniture, the livability of the rooms he designed, the way his rooms were crafted—they were beautiful but never overdone. He had an incredible ability to scale things perfectly, so each piece fit the space precisely. His style was hard edged, clean cut, and immaculate which is what I like to incorporate into my own designs.
