Ann Lineberger Book Party

Wilton, CTJune 21, 2016

People practice yoga to achieve physical and emotional goals, but in Ann Lineberger’s new book, The Adjustments, published by Darien’s Full Fathom Five, things become far more physical than spiritual.

The story centers on a group of well-educated and financially well-off Fairfield County women — at least that’s how it appears on the surface — who take yoga classes at the trendy studio in town. The instructor is the handsome and magnetic Yogi Jack, who promotes private sessions where the students often end up in positions far more compromising than downward dog.

“We’re in Fairfield County, which can be very strict in what’s right and wrong,” Lineberger said, “and the women in the book are adjusting to many things in their lives: marriage, parenthood, the financial downturn, and hitting middle age.” Yogi Jack comes along with his brand of yoga – a combination of Kundalini and Tantra – and offers to help them find happiness by fulfilling their sexual fantasies. “While reading the book, you are trying to determine if Yogi Jack has good or bad intentions for these women,” Lineberger said.

Lineberger hosted a reception to celebrate the novel’s publication on Tuesday, June 21 in the Brubeck Room at Wilton Library. The Adjustments is available online through all major bookstores and locally at Snappy Gator in Wilton and Fairfield, as well as at Books on the Common in Ridgefield, Elm Street Books in New Canaan, and Bikram Yoga in Norwalk.
