Order of St. John Cocktail Reception in Greenwich
Greenwich, CTJuly 15, 2021
On Thursday, July 15th, the Greenwich Region of The Priory in the USA of the Order of St John gathered for a cocktail reception at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club to welcome the Prior, Nigel G. Heath, KStJ, who was visiting from San Fransisco.
The event was hosted by David Yudain, CStJ, Chair of the Greenwich Region, and co-hosted by Christopher St. Victor-de Pinho, MStJ, who generously underwrote the event.
At the event, Mr. Heath spoke about the work of the Order, and encouraged support for the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital and also for volunteering for the sick and needy locally.
The history and original purpose of the Order of St John — one that began over 900 years ago in Jerusalem in a hospice for sick pilgrims continues to this day. Throughout those nine centuries, two things have remained constant and are preserved in the motto of the Order: Pro Fide (For the Faith) and Pro Utilitate Hominum (In the Service of Humanity).
The mission of The Priory in the United States of America of The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem is to support the sick and the poor in fellowship as an order of chivalry founded on Christian principles that operates regardless of race, gender, class, or creed. The Order supports St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital and, through its volunteer corps, supports the social and healthcare needs of U.S. communities.CLICK AN IMAGE TO ENLARGE
