Stamford, CTFebruary 9, 2020

The Avon Theatre Film Center in Downtown Stamford celebrated Hollywood’s most glamorous night with their annual Oscar-Night Party on Sunday, February 9, 2020.  Avon co-founders Chuck and Deborah Royce greeted the crowd as they walked the Red Carpet. Guests outdid themselves in their stunning gowns and dinner jackets! Prizes for Best Red Carpet attire went to Westhill High educator, Ruth Terry Walden, UCONN-Stamford Professor Ingrid Semaan and her husband, Christopher Hartley and Avon Advisory Board member Patricia Chadwick and her husband, John.  Special recognition went to two out-of-town guests who flew in for the party – Cindy Chyr from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles and Connie Conner from Georgia. The Stamford community embraced the Oscar Night festivities by donating delicious food and hotel accommodations. Donors included Barcelona, Beldotti’s Bakery, Lorca, Lucky’s Classic Burger & Malt Shop, Hudson Social, Quattro Pazzi, Remo’s Brick Oven Pizzeria, Zaza’s Gastrobar and the Stamford Marriott Courtyard.  All proceeds from the Oscar-Night Party benefit the Avon’s operations.  Opened in June 1939, the Avon is celebrating over 80 years on Bedford Street and its 16th anniversary as a non-profit, member-supported cinema. The Avon is beloved by thousands in the metro-NY area for its vision and dedication to showcasing the best first-run, independent and foreign films, documentaries & cult classics.
