The English-Speaking Union of Greenwich Champagne Celebration

The English Speaking Union celebrated The Queen’s 91st Birthday with a champagne party, Shakespeare performances, and a welcome from President Natalie Pray at the Belle Haven Club on 25 June 2017.

William Miller, CBE, National Chairman Emeritus of the ESU spoke about The Queen’s  decades of extraordinary service, and proposed the royal toast.

Jessica Taal, Greenwich High School teacher, recipient of a scholarship to study at Oxford University thanked  members for their generosity.

Malenky Welsh who placed first in the Greenwich Shakespeare Competition and was a Finalist in the National Competition performed a monologue from King Henry VI;  and Willow Maya Giannotti-Garlinghouse performed Shakespeare’s Sonnet No. 143.

Hats were de rigueur – champagne, scones with strawberry jam and cream, were served with Tea to over two hundred ESU members and guests.
