In a dazzling night of squash at the historic Apawamis Club, World No. 1 Mostafa Asal took the court for the Greenwich Panthers’ very first home match—marking a powerful debut for the newest team in the National Squash League.

The sold-out crowd was treated to world-class play from start to finish. Asal’s presence wasn’t just symbolic—it was electrifying. His intensity, flair, and shot-making wowed spectators and set the tone for a team that’s clearly here to make noise.

Joining him on court was Swiss star, Dimitri Steinmann—The Jet—who made his own impressive Panthers debut, showcasing the kind of grit and speed that make him a fan favorite.

While the final result didn’t go the Panthers’ way, the energy in the building told a different story: this was a win for Greenwich, for the sport, and for a team that’s bringing something new and exciting to the community.

“Our first home match was unforgettable,” said team co-owner Stephanie Borges. “To have the World No. 1 representing the Panthers, to feel the crowd behind us—it was a true moment for the sport, and just the beginning of what we’re building.”

With talent at the top, support in the stands, and a vision for growth, the Greenwich Panthers have arrived—in style.
