What was the inspiration for your tablescape?

The inspiration for our Holiday table was something that wasn’t literal and I could use in my own home and have for years to come, eclectic, yet classic and elegant. My dining and living areas are beige, green and white with touches of black. I also love feminine floral touches and typically start all designs with textiles for inspiration. This particular Schumacher-fabric, a gift from Schumacher, in pattern “Bermuda Blossoms”, color Jet, spoke to me very loudly, with its black field and dramatic green and white floral pattern, a very sophisticated and dramatic, yet classic design that would become the focal point of the table. Note how the gold woven-Trim on the hem coordinates with the gold chargers adding some texture and nuance. We used a lot of glass and Crystal for sparkle and to not overwhelm the table scape. The Crystal Stemware was on loan to us from Orrefors and again a subtle nod of gold in the stems compliments the chargers and trimmed-hem of the table cloth. The classic boxwood wreaths on the backs of the chairs are from my personal collection and use every year. We were fortunate to have Brimar gifting us the-chair tassels which we added to the wreaths for whimsy and drama, picking up on the black and white pattern of the fabric. I often design florals for my clients and of course myself, but love a floral design to not be too perfect a bit more natural is my personal preference and it worked well here with the lush, organic, pattern’d fabric of the table cloth and besides, who can go wrong with white roses and hydrangeas. For the holidays I often take regular florals and add greens, here I used Cedar branches to give them an air of Winter, meets holiday, plus the smell is so intoxicating. Very often I leave the greens in throughout the Winter months so mine and or yours continues to feel cozy.

We’d have a couple of close personal friends over for Christmas Eve. That’s always been my family’s big day but this table would also be used by myself and my husband Demo for New Years eve and the table cloth itself, for years to come. This is how i like to design, actual things that can be used and kept, perhaps even passed down. More memories being made.
