Heavenly Peace – Dinner with Close Friends

Dana Brandwein + Daniel Oates
DBO Home is the studio of husband-and-wife team Dana Brandwein, a former record label executive, and Daniel Oates, a sculptor whose work is included in major museum collections. After leaving New York City for rural Connecticut, they built a practice shaped by craftsmanship, music, food, and a deep appreciation for the materials they work with. Using high-quality, thoughtfully chosen materials, they create ceramics, furniture, and lighting that highlight natural character and everyday functionality. Their pieces balance organic forms with a refined, understated aesthetic—timeless designs made to be used and enjoyed for years to come.
What was the inspiration for your tablescape?
The inspiration really came from mixing Paul’s vintage pieces with my handmade ceramics in a way that felt warm, lived-in, and personal. We wanted a table that feels like home—soft linens, natural touches, pieces with a little history and heart. Nothing fussy or precious, just a collected mix that invites you to sit down, relax, and stay awhile.
Who are your guests?
This is a dinner table set for family and close friends. A place of comfort to linger. But if you’re asking what living famous people I’d like to join us, I’d surely love to share a meal with Sir Paul McCartney, the Obamas and Kate McKinnon…that would be a fun night.
