YWCA Greenwich will be holding its 6th Annual Women Who Inspire Awards to recognize exceptional women in our community. YWCA Greenwich’s Women Who Inspire Awards was established to recognize and celebrate outstanding women who have excelled in philanthropic, professional, and volunteer pursuits. Importantly, these honorees have enriched the lives of many in our community. This event acknowledges the changes in society that have led to the fluidity of work/life pursuits for women of today.

Elisa Wilson graduated from Boston College where she received her B.A. in Psychology. She went on to receive both an M.A. and Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University, Teachers College. Elisa worked briefly in the distinct fields of counseling and investor relations before taking a break to start her family.

In 2002, Elisa was hired to serve as President of the Gabelli Foundation, Inc., a private foundation focused on education philanthropy. Additionally, she serves as a Director of GAMCO Investors, Inc., (OTC:GAMI) a publicly traded, diversified global financial services company, with headquarters in Rye, New York. Elisa has served on the GAMCO board since February 2009. She is also a Director of Associated Capital Group (NYSE:AC), a financial services and investment management firm based in Greenwich, CT. Elisa currently serves as a Trustee on the Boards of Boston College and Teachers College, Columbia University.

Locally, Elisa has volunteered on multiple committees throughout the Greenwich community. Currently, she is in her ninth year as a member of the board of the Breast Cancer Alliance in Greenwich, where she has been Vice President and served as head and co-chair of numerous committees. Elisa is also currently an active volunteer at the Brunswick School and has been a member of the Parents Association. Previously, Elisa spent six years on the Board of the Putnam Indian Field School and seven years on the Board of the Metro NY North Chapter of the Red Cross. She remains a member of the Tiffany Circle of the Red Cross. An active volunteer at her children’s schools, she has also volunteered in various capacities at the Riverside School, Sacred Heart Greenwich and Princeton University. Elisa remains committed to The Ursuline School, in New Rochelle, NY, her high school alma mater, and is proud of the scholarship program she has in place there.

Elisa and her husband, Dr. Tom Wilson, live in Riverside and are the proud parents of three children, two dogs and one cat.
