YWCA Greenwich will be holding its 7th Annual Women Who Inspire Awards to recognize exceptional women in our community. YWCA Greenwich’s Women Who Inspire Awards was established to recognize and celebrate outstanding women who have excelled in philanthropic, professional, and volunteer pursuits. Importantly, these honorees have enriched the lives of many in our community. This event acknowledges the changes in society that have led to the fluidity of work/life pursuits for women of today.

Lindsey Deering Gaynor is a senior at Greenwich Academy and will attend Wake Forest University next year. She joined the GA community in 9th grade after attending Rippowam Cisqua School for middle school and Bedford Village Elementary School for elementary school.

Lindsey is Greenwich Academy’s Community Engagement Board President. In this position, she led the respective grade representatives, identified innovative ways to involve GA in the local community, and serves as a bridge between students and faculty. She also serves on Forum, GA’s student government council. Lindsey was selected as a GA Peer Leader and serves as a resource to incoming freshmen students to aid their transition into high school. Additionally, Lindsey is the senior editor-in-chief of the Greenleaf Yearbook.

As a sophomore, Lindsey applied for GA’s Greenleaf grant on behalf of Coffee for Good, a local organization for developmentally disabled adults. This grant allowed CFG to expand its reach within the community beyond its welcoming storefront. To continue GA’s support, she worked with administrators and the Community Engagement Board to develop GA’s “Gator Blend,” coffee, which is sold at CFG, the GA Bookstore and is featured in the school’s dining commons. Through a series of coffee bean-tasting sessions and logo design competitions, she involved the entire GA community in this project and accomplished her goal of raising awareness and support for CFG’s mission.
In 2023, Lindsey earned a Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania through Social Innovators, a program for motivated high school students to explore creative social entrepreneurship. She identified Greenwich Meals on Wheels as the focus for her project and put a strategy in place to organize weekly meal deliveries by GA students. This program is currently in its third year and the structure Lindsey established will continue after she graduates.

During the summer months, Lindsey dedicates her time as a volunteer at Neighbors Link, where she serves as a bi-lingual Spanish/English assistant teacher in the summer school/camp fusion program, Summer Links. Lindsey has volunteered with Neighbors Link for three summers and has contributed over 130 hours of service.
