YWCA Greenwich will be holding its 6th Annual Women Who Inspire Awards to recognize exceptional women in our community. YWCA Greenwich’s Women Who Inspire Awards was established to recognize and celebrate outstanding women who have excelled in philanthropic, professional, and volunteer pursuits. Importantly, these honorees have enriched the lives of many in our community. This event acknowledges the changes in society that have led to the fluidity of work/life pursuits for women of today.

Shari Aser is the Vice President for Digital Sales Americas at IBM. She is responsible for Inbound Digital Sales across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Shari graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. She also completed her MBA from Cornell University. Her career at IBM spans almost two decades as a software sales leader responsible for managing the digital and field teams across the Americas. She was recognized as a Rising Star by the Women’s Bond Club in 2004, awarded to professionals who are identified as the company’s future leaders.

Shari has been a leader in volunteerism. She was presented The United States Presidential Volunteer Service Award for giving more than one hundred hours of yearly service to the community for the last consecutive 10 years.

Shari received the Young Alumni Award in 2016 from Cornell University-Johnson School of Management for her exemplary commitment to the school. She sits on the President’s Council of Cornell Women and on the Johnson School Dean’s Leadership Council.

She also received the Young Alumni Award from Bucknell University. She is a past member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and the Engineering Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Awarded the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year in 2011 by the New York Junior League, she has served as treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors.

In September 2023, she won the Mirrorball trophy for first place at the Abilis Dancing with the Stars Competition.

She is currently on the Board of Directors at Greenwich United Way, where she serves as the chair for the Community Planning Council.

Shari served as co-chair of the Greenwich Tree Conservancy Tree Party and is an active volunteer with the Bruce Museum where she serves on the Development Committee, was a Past Co-Chair of The Bruce Gala, and a member of the New Bruce Capital Campaign Committee. Shari is a member of the International Women’s Forum of Connecticut. She is on the Parkway School PTA Board and past board member of the Round Hill Nursery School.

Shari lives in Greenwich with her husband, Bill James, and 6-year-old twins, Madeline and William.
